Enterprise Systems Meet E-Commerce Control

DOWCO Power SportsProject: DOWCO Power Sports
The recently completed dowcopowersports.com is a prime example of intelligent integration. After investigating the administrative needs of DOWCO’s staff and calculating the influx of post-redesign web sales, a decision was made to marry their existing system to the new site. By accepting product information directly from DOWCO’s internal production system, Starkmedia was able to populate the most accurate product content and current inventory directly to the web.
For example, DOWCO may be running low on a specific color saddlebag and decides to no longer produce them, so a manager marks the product clearance and changes the product description to “Get one before they’re gone forever!” Content is revised on the site with only 5 in stock. Soon, a visitor reads the notice at dowcopowersports.com and purchases the last one. From there, a low-cost merchant account processes the sale and forwards the funds directly to DOWCO. Now that the sale is final and the item is no longer in stock, the web site automatically removes the product making it unavailable for purchase.
Since the two systems are working in unison…
- Content is Managed in One Location
Educate your staff on one easy-to-use system of content management instead of multiple third-party applications. - Copy and Products are ConsistentNo more conflicting copy or orders for unavailable products.
- Payments are Processed Automatically
With a merchant account behind this automation, funds are immediately distributed and notification-either directly or via email-of the purchase is routed for distribution.
